Intel calls it Atom

Intel announced that Sunday is has been called “Atom” for a new family of ultra-small chips.

The “nuclear” moniker will be a family of chips with two members, who are expected later this quarter. One - had to know how Silverthorne - is a low-power mobile processors designed for the next generation of mobile Internet devices. It includes a new low-power state, so that there will be a significant decommissioned and processing of tasks and limits power consumption.

The other, code-named Diamond Ville, is a single-core processor for ultra-low-cost laptops.
