The state of Texas offers a few different choices when it comes to the teen driver education course. One option many parents select is course 101, which is a parent taught Texas driver education course. This may sound like a good method but turns out many parent are left regretting their decision because of the thick handbook that comes with this method. A good alternative to choosing course 101, is selecting course #107, which is an online driver education course.
The online Texas driver education course is state approved by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and has a number of benefits for both the teen and the parent. This course can either be taken online or as part of a three disc cd-rom. By electing to take this path, the teen can work in the comforts of their own home while going at their own pace. This allows the teen to better understand all of the curriculum the course has to offer. In addition, parents don’t have to maneuver their busy schedules in order to get their kids to a driver education school. If a teen wants o receive their license before the age of eighteen, they have to complete this course. So selecting this way is a great idea for both parties involved.
Once a teen turns fifteen, they can apply for their learner’s permit by mailing in a form saying that they will be taking the parent taught driver education course. The next step is enrolling into an online driver education course. You will then complete the first six hours of the course, which will get you ready for the written exam that is next to come. You must pass a vision and a written test in order to obtain the learner’s permit. Upon completion of these items, you must spend a minimum amount of hours behind the wheel with a parent and you must finish the online course.
