Adobe profit rises

Adobe Systems Inc. said Monday its fiscal second-quarter profit rose compared to the period a year earlier amid strong sales of its design, document and Web software.
San Jose, Calif.-based Adobe said net income for the period ended in May rose to $214.9 million, or 40 cents a share, from $152.5 million, or 25 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $886.9 million from $745.6 million.
Excluding special items, Adobe said net income for the quarter was 50 cents a share. Analysts on average estimated Adobe would post earnings excluding special items of 46 cents a share, and $880.1 million in revenue, according to FactSet Research.
